HOW TO PROPOSE A NEW MEMBER

First secure a membership application card from the club Secretary, (or double click here to check for more detailed instructions) fill out the card and return it to Membership Committee Chair for review, who will then pass the card along to the club Secretary.
You may click here on Proposing a New Member to view a web-version of the form, which you can open and print, then collect information prior to getting the card from the club Secretary.  You will need Adobe Reader on your computer to open the form which is in PDF format.)

The Secretary submits the card to the Board of directors.  The Board in turn asks approval from the classification and membership committees. The proposer is notified on the approval or rejection of the Board.

The proposed individual is not informed of the nomination to Rotary until approval comes from the Board to the Secretary.

The proposer and members of the Rotary Information Committee inform the prospective member of the privileges and responsibilities of Rotary membership, ask the proposed individual to complete the application card and secure his/her permission to publish his/her name in High Gear.

If no objection to the prospective member by a club member is received within seven days following the publication of the name, that proposed individual, upon payment of an admission fee (pro-rated dues) is a new Rotarian. The new member shall then be introduced formally to the membership.

The club Secretary sends a complete new member report form to Rotary International (or adds the new member via Member Access online at www.rotary.org ) and to the District Secretary as set forth in the Rotary Club Bylaws.  Also notify the District Newsletter Editor and others who may maintain membership records for the District as well as Brescia's if the new members is to receive High Gear in print form via USPS.
